Furniture Services & Aftercare
At FWDG, our commitment to you doesn't end at delivery. We believe that great furniture deserves great care — and that when something goes wrong, you shouldn't have to figure it out alone. Our service team is here to help with warranty issues, protection plan claims, care questions, and anything else that comes up after your purchase. It's all part of what it means to buy from a family-owned store that's been taking care of Lowcountry families since 1972.
Warranty Service & Support
If something goes wrong with your furniture, FWDG is your first call — not a manufacturer's 1-800 number. Our service team works directly with the manufacturer on your behalf to diagnose the issue, determine the appropriate course of action, and coordinate the resolution from start to finish.
Manufacturer warranties typically cover defects in materials and workmanship under normal household use, including structural issues, mechanism failures, and certain fabric or finish defects. While every manufacturer's warranty is different, our team knows the process inside and out and will guide you through every step.

Here's what to do if you have a warranty concern:
- Contact FWDG first
Text us at 843-891-1060 or reach out through our Contact page Let us know what's going on and, if possible, have your original purchase information handy. - We'll assess the issue
Our team will review the details with you to determine whether it falls under the manufacturer's warranty coverage. - We coordinate the resolution
FWDG communicates directly with the manufacturer and follows their protocol — whether that means ordering replacement parts, scheduling a repair, or arranging a replacement. You don't have to manage any of it.
Please keep in mind that furniture, like any big-ticket item, is not returnable to the manufacturer for credit. However, most manufacturers offer meaningful remedies including part replacements, repairs, and component swaps. We'll make sure you understand your options and get the best outcome available.

Protection 1st (PRO1) Plan Claims
Accidents happen — a spilled glass of wine, a pet scratch, an unexpected tear. That's exactly what Protection 1st (PRO1) plans are designed for. If you purchased a PRO1 plan with your furniture, our team is here to help you file your claim and navigate the process smoothly.
Before calling Protection 1st directly, we always recommend reaching out to FWDG first by texting us at 843-891-1060. Our service team can help you understand what's covered under your plan, walk you through what documentation or photos may be needed, and make sure your claim is submitted correctly the first time.
PRO1 plans typically cover accidental damage that occurs during normal household use, including stains, rips, tears, burns, and other incidents that fall outside of a standard manufacturer warranty. Coverage details vary by plan, so if you're unsure what's included, we're happy to review your plan with you.
If you don't currently have a protection plan and are interested in learning more, ask your FWDG sales associate about PRO1 coverage options at the time of your next purchase. Visit our Warranty page for more information.
Caring for Your Furniture
The best way to keep your furniture looking and feeling its best is regular, preventive care. Different materials require different approaches, and the right habits can significantly extend the life of your investment. Here are some general guidelines our team recommends:
Upholstered Furniture
Keep upholstered pieces looking fresh by vacuuming regularly with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris. Rotate and fluff cushions periodically to maintain even wear and shape. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth — avoid rubbing, which can push the stain deeper into the fabric. Always check the manufacturer's care tag for specific cleaning codes before using any cleaning product.
If you purchased a performance fabric, you're already ahead of the game — these textiles are engineered to resist stains and hold up to everyday life, including kids and pets. Your FWDG sales associate can let you know which fabrics in our lineup are performance-rated.
Leather Furniture
Leather is durable and develops a beautiful patina over time, but it does benefit from regular care. Dust or wipe down leather surfaces with a soft, dry cloth weekly. Avoid placing leather furniture in direct sunlight for extended periods, as UV exposure can cause fading and drying. Use a manufacturer-recommended leather conditioner every 6 to 12 months to keep the material supple and prevent cracking.
Avoid using household cleaners, baby wipes, or any products not specifically formulated for leather, as these can damage the finish over time.

Wood & Casegoods
Dust wood furniture regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid placing hot items directly on wood surfaces — always use coasters, trivets, or placemats to prevent heat marks and moisture rings. For deeper cleaning, use a product specifically designed for the type of finish on your piece (painted, stained, or natural).
Keep wood furniture out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from heating vents, as extreme temperature changes can cause warping or cracking over time.
Outdoor Furniture
Lowcountry weather can be tough on outdoor pieces. Wipe down frames and cushions regularly to prevent buildup of salt, pollen, and moisture. Store cushions indoors or in a weather-resistant container during extended periods of non-use. For metal frames, check periodically for signs of rust and address them early with a manufacturer-recommended treatment.
Many of our outdoor collections feature weather-resistant materials, but a little routine care goes a long way in keeping them looking great season after season.
Mattresses
Protect your mattress investment by using a mattress protector from day one — it's one of the simplest things you can do to extend the life of your mattress and maintain its warranty. Rotate your mattress every 3 to 6 months to promote even wear. Avoid sitting on the edge in the same spot repeatedly, as this can break down the support over time.
If your mattress was purchased with a FWDG comfort guarantee, proper care is also one of the eligibility requirements for any future exchange. Visit our Returns page for full comfort guarantee details.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I report a problem with my furniture?
Call FWDG at 843-891-1060 or visit our Contact page. Our service team will assess the issue and determine whether it's a warranty matter, a protection plan claim, or something else — and guide you through the next steps.
Do I contact FWDG or the manufacturer for warranty issues?
Always contact FWDG first. We act as your point of contact and coordinate directly with the manufacturer so you don't have to navigate the process alone.
How do I file a protection plan claim?
Call FWDG at 843-891-1060 before contacting Protection 1st directly. Our team will help you understand your coverage, gather the right documentation, and make sure your claim is filed correctly.
Is there a fee for warranty service?
Warranty service coordinated through the manufacturer is typically handled at no cost to you, provided the issue falls within the warranty's terms. Our team will let you know if any costs apply before proceeding.
Does FWDG service clearance or "As Is" items?
No. Clearance, closeout, and "As Is" merchandise is sold without warranty, and no services will be performed on these items. See our Store Policies page for details.
How do I know if my issue is covered under warranty?
Warranty coverage varies by manufacturer and product. In general, warranties cover defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. They typically do not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, or sun fading. Contact our service team and we'll help you figure out if your issue qualifies.
What's the difference between warranty coverage and a protection plan?
A manufacturer warranty covers defects that occurred during production. A Protection 1st (PRO1) plan covers accidental damage that happens during everyday use in your home, like stains, tears, or burns. They serve different purposes and can work together to give you comprehensive coverage.
How should I clean my upholstered furniture?
Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment, blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth, and always check the care tag before using any cleaning products. For specific guidance on your fabric type, call our team and we'll walk you through it.
Do I need a mattress protector?
We strongly recommend one. A mattress protector helps extend the life of your mattress, maintains warranty eligibility, and is a requirement for the comfort guarantee on select models.
