Employee Spotlight

Larry Mark - President and Owner

"After starting FWDG in 1972 at the age of 20, you would think I would know everything about the furniture business, but I realized long ago that I will never know everything about my industry."

"The logistics of a furniture store can be very complicated and if any portion along the way fails it can spell disaster. That is why we insist on double checks at all levels, from order writing to placing orders to verifying orders to delivering the finished product."

"At FWDG, everyone has bought into the statement 'It's one thing to do the right thing, but it's also important to do it right!' We'll always strive to do it right."

"I look forward to hearing from you or seeing you in the store.”

Sherry Kollar - Sales Manager

Sherry has been a Design Consultant since 2003 for FWDG.  In May, 2013, she earned the position of Sales Manager.  Her enthusiasm and uplifting attitude are seen in everything she and her staff do.

Her words...
"I was born in Maine and moved to Beaufort in 1985 with my husband, Anthony. We were in the ministry for 20 years. I began my career in furniture in 2003. I have found my 'second calling' – I love to help people design beautiful rooms to make beautiful homes here in the Lowcountry."

Gay Rodgers - Operations Manager

"I feel so fortunate to have been born and raised in Beaufort. Most of my childhood friends left Beaufort, but most of them have returned just as I did. I have worked in many fields and worked with many different people. I have found that working at FWDG has not only been enjoyable, but also fun. Imagine going to work and actually laughing your way through the day."

Lucinda Brookins - Office Manager

"I came to FWDG as office manager in 2007. I am a native of Gibson, Georgia and graduated from Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia.  I moved to Beaufort in 1979 when I married the son of a Marine Corps cook, Roy Brookins."

"I worked for the South Carolina Department of Social Services for five years before I left to be a full-time mom to son David and, three years later, to my daughter Katie. When my husband started his own computer business in 1988, I began helping as his part-time bookkeeper. When my youngest went away to college, I knew it was time to go back to work full-time, and was delighted to join FWDG. This place just makes me smile."

Kelly Curtis - Manager of RUGS! and Design Consultant

As evidenced by her picture, (taken at Halloween 2014) Kelly makes all of us at FWDG smile.   Kelly is warm, fun-loving, knowledgeable, an animal lover and a joy to work with.  Kelly has a wide variety of skills and most recently managed Lee's Flooring, prior to the owner's retirement.

When FWDG opened the area's largest rug store in May of 2014, Kelly was the natural choice to be manager.

Faye Yarborough - Design Consultant

Faye has spent her life in furniture and wouldn't have changed it for anything!  She began her furniture career at 15 years of age, making fabric samples for the industry.

Later she had the opportunity to work for her father at Ken Ray Fabrics, in customer service and inventory control.  After working in various other parts of the industry, she came to work at FWDG in April of 2013 as a Design Consultant.

Faye loves the experience of making homes beautiful and often makes "house calls" to be able to see a client's home to get the feel of how best to match furniture to families.

Faye hails from High Point, NC, the furniture capital of the world.

Carol Cordts - BedSmart Sales

"I was born and raised in northern New Jersey. My husband and I discovered Beaufort over 35 years ago, and fell in love with the Lowcountry. We moved to Beaufort in 20

05 and have enjoyed every minute of it. I worked in medical imaging for 33 years before moving to Beaufort."

"I began working for FWDG in September 2005 and I will always thank Larry Mark for giving me a chance to work as a Design Consultant. I think it has worked out well for both of us. I enjoy doing what I do now, and am having a good time at it. I realized after leaving the medical profession that I missed working with people.   At FWDG, I get that opportunity once again. Please come into our store and allow me to assist you. I thank you for the opportunity."

Joan Carter - Design Consultant/ Assistant Sales Manager

"I came to FWDG in April 2008 after being manager of a patio furniture store in Beaufort and Bluffton for nine years. I have a diversified background that ranges from hospital administration to the retail world of cosmetics, carpet, wallpaper, accessories and casual furniture".

"Through it all, I have learned that helping people make their homes beautiful is what I enjoy most."

"I was born in Dayton, Ohio but have lived in the South most of my life."

Paul Pagano - Design Consultant

Growing up in Eastern NC I have been blessed to experience everything that the Carolina coast has to offer. I have over 30 years of experience working with the public, and I am a firm believer that if you treat people with integrity and respect you will be rewarded with wonderful friends and clients.

Life is a blessing, laughter is a gift. Smiles are contagious.

Katy Glorioso - Design Consultant

Katy moved down from Pennsylvania to join our sales team. After years of detailed administrative work for nonprofits, Katy decided to fuse her love of people, eye for design, and ability to find creative solutions to help the customers of FWDG.

When she is not working with customers, Katy enjoys reading, kayaking, and spending time with her niece, nephews, and her cat, Weathersby.

Shannon Rajkovich - Design Consultant

My family has resided here for over 35 years. I've been married for almost 25 years, we have two children and have mini farm that keeps us busy. When I am not working at our property, FWDG has become like a second home. I work hard to fulfill customer's needs while keeping a positive attitude. I have a retail background with years of experience staging homes and home design. I enjoy helping others and this is a great way for me to be able to do just that.

Misty Casper - Sales Administrative Assistant

Misty is a Beaufort native. A mother to three children, Misty came us when her long-time employment at Hunting Island State Park ended post-Hurricane Matthew. Misty brings strong office management and organizational skills to our team. When she isn’t supporting our Design Consultants and Sales Team, Misty enjoys studying marine life and hand-crafting.

Katherine Gill - Logistics Manager
